A lot of people think that they know. I get a lot of calls for people who are saying, well, I know what the at-will doctrine is, and then they will give me some sort of explanation but then not really know the depth of how deep this doctrine goes and how truly employer-friendly it is.

So here in the state of Texas, you can be terminated, which would also mean that you can be demoted, you could have your pay cut, any sort of adverse employment action up and including to termination.

You can be terminated for a good reason, a bad reason, no reason at all and they can even lie to you, and that’s LEGAL!
